Got my rocket today…

Nope… not a new car (i.e. Mazdaspeed3 / Golf R32)…

Yup… this is my new ride to work:

I bought a “new” racer/road bike… I got it second hand off a guy who was selling it on Craigslist. I’ve been prowling the bike section for the longest time and missed out on many a bikes. But finally, today after work I was able to get a bike I really like. Cost me nearly half a paycheck too… for an old bike. But it has A LOT of character and it’s very unique. It’s a lugged frame and it’s fluted. Very very vintage, and funky. Plus, this bike goes like crazy… IT’S FAST and I mean fast as in hitting 50km/h on flat surface. I think once I get into better shape I can go even faster, especially with the tailwind coming out of UBC on the way home to my new place. And I be damned, the bike is so freaking light… as it feels under 20 pounds light! Yeah… this thing flies.

I think I just became more of a Vancouverite by becoming a cyclist. Now I just have to bike in the rain too… but that seems like a dangerous idea on those racing tires… plus do I really want to get my new baby wet and dirty in the rain? Nah…

I LOVE my new “pocket rocket.” I think I’ll call him Spritz.
